I attended the first in the series of Musculoskeletal acupuncture seminars last weekend, very interesting and useful work! The dry needling done mostly by Physiotherapists is simply a rapid insertion and withdrawal of a needle into a tight muscle to force it to relax. While this work uses the same points used by Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctors, to treat musculoskeletal conditions using a more holistic approach. There was plenty of hands on practice giving and receiving treatment, my overworked elbow feels better already.
I attended the Chiropractic Neurology Seminar on the weekend, it was absolutely revolutionary in providing a new understanding of how Chiropractic works. Rather than the old segmental model, which attributed the relief from certain symptoms through addressing a particular vertebrae, it now appears that the benefits from Chiropractic are far more profound and widespread. In fact evidence is now indicating that various areas of the brain and spinal cord directly affecting major bodily functions such as heart rate and blood pressure are heavily influenced by Chiropractic.
